A few rather unusual surprises here, with the Best Actor category being the only one to stay the same as the Golden Globe noms, with the swapping of Tobey Maguire for Jeremy Renner.

Marion Cotillard, Emily Blunt, Abbie Cornish and Saoirse Ronan have been overlooked in the Best Actress category, and it’s not looking good for any for an Oscar nom.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is Diane Kruger’s nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category for her work in Inglorious Basterds.

On the TV side of things there were some notable ommissions made by the Hollywood Foreign Press.

Most surprisingly was the snub of Jim Parsons in the Best Supporting Actor category. Nothing short of criminal there! Also as much as I LOVE “Glee” I am not sure that Matthew Morrison gave one of the best 5 performances by an Actor this year. With nominees like Steve Carell and Alec Baldwin, his inclusion here seems a little vapid!
