30 Rock – Secret Santa

I would like to point out that I was in no way coerced into writing this tonight. *Stop being suspicious, just read the card*

This episode kicked some serious ass – mostly because it has what I love about this show, the multiple story lines intertwining throughout – basically complete randomness. Verdukianism? Rage strokes? Christmas? Off the wall.

Also the Julianne Moore appearance was fun, with her heavy Boston accent – which incidentally is the only American accent I could probably fake.

Really though – was there any work being done in this episode on the show? No, and that was perfect. I mean, the Dealbreakers stuff and the searching for a cast member of earlier episodes this season were OK, but I like it when the show at the end of the week is incidental and we get a full episode of just the behind the scenes back and forth with a cast of people who are all a bit nuts – Jack included at times. I still enjoy his “straight man” routine the most though – someone has to do it and Alec Baldwin does it with some serious dry wit. “It’s like watching Hemingway write – Mark Hemingway”

I’m using fingertag as a double entendre at least once this week. I suggest you all do the same.

Here’s my review of our most recent episode of 30 Rock.

Wade Boggs’ Carpet World

Sorry, cop out review, just meeting some contractual obligations.

So watching this season has made me wonder more and more when the finale will come. Feeling stale, although honestly it’s not as if I’m finding the episodes boring – I am entertained and laugh at an average of 3.65 times.

So why am I wondering this? Not sure, but it feels as if we’re getting stuck in similar personal relationships stories every week. Jack and Liz squaring off, speculation on if and when Kenneth will come to run the network some day (remember back when Jack was worried that would happen?), Tracy and Jenna teaming up to be idiots…

But all this aside, I need to know one thing – do I say “aboot”? Is this a real thing? All Canadians end up with a complex over this, and I speculate it all gets traced back to one guy from Ontario decades ago with a speech impediment.

30 Rock – “Audition Day”

“What the frak, nerds?”

So I’m not sure just where Josh has been the past few seasons, but I’m loving this showing up now auditioning for TGS as “former TGS cast member”.

I liked this episode the most so far – maybe this search for a cast member thing will suck up most of the season, or maybe they will hire the robot guy, but it’s seemed like this season we needed a few episodes to get us in gear. Definitely feels like we’re approaching the stride for the season.

(This is not including Tracy Morgan who makes me laugh any episode – in fact I watched the season opener again last night, “Who wants to hold hands with a black millionaire?”)

Not to say the previous three episodes this season were bad, but I was usually left knowing it could be a bit better.

Yep……you saw that right! Uber spunk James Franco is heading from daytime tv to Prime Time! He will join a long list of guest stars this season on The Mo and The Ro’s FAVE underrated sitcom ‘30 Rock’.  The 31-year-old, who is playing himself, will have a fake romance with Jane Krakowski’s Jenna, engineered by their respective agents to boost their profiles.

The Harvey Milk actor (and Columbia grad student) will start filming his episode this week……………….Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm………James Franco…………..

30 Rock In Germany FAIL

So 30 Rock goes over as well in Germany as a lead balloon. Debuting on German television on Sunday night, it scored a 0.0. Although not all bad, 0.0 simply means less than 5000 viewers tuned in.

Clearly they don’t know what they’re missing in Germany, but we’ll let it slide because The Hoff has officially become their problem now. Thanks guys!

I think now that 30 Rock has begun for the year I’ll be adding it to my “must blogs”.
