Now, I can imagine some may not be a fan of this continuing trend of the series now recognizing and acknowledging itself, some may even argue that it’s being post modern for post modern sake. Now I for one enjoy it anyway since I enjoy general weirdness, and two, that post modernism argument is tired and get with the time people, we’re now post post modern.
OK, I admit I’m full of crap, but it is fun. This has been a societal realization building for some time now – fictional characters have just as much right to interact with you, as you them. Take your plethora of reality shows, or your Paranormal Activity’s into context, and you can see the changes in fiction that have made it completely acceptable to fully screw with the 4th wall. We all know that it’s true that indeed the world is a stage, and we are all merely players. Just ask Andy…well, if he wasn’t dead that is.
(Yes, reality shows are still somewhat fiction I contend, as these people are never themselves – they know the camera is there just as I type knowing you’ll be reading this)
So let’s jump into the critique. I am not a fan of this delaying the story. One off episodes are fine, plus I imagine perhaps they are a bit cheaper to produce since there is no need to have epic demon and angel battles or any of that fun stuff, but really the limiting of the story to literally the last two minutes was irritating. This appears to be a trend now that we’ve wrapped up last season and the boys are back together. Where is Lucifer in all this? On sabbatical?
I will give the episode a pass though as I had fun watching it, and there was one scary character – Becky. Her obsessiveness first over Sam, then Chuck, was frightening. Maybe some dudes would like that, but I was freaked out.
Now go get the colt already.
