J.T – Like I Love You

Still, in my humble opinion, the best track he has ever done to date! It’s raw and “rough around the edges, “I’m just finding my feet” feel is a real joy.

Everyone who knows me is aware of my lady wood for double tracking, and the bridge in this track is one of my all time fave examples!

Ironically, his debut solo single. Enjoy!

Pulp! Radiohead! 90s!

I wanted some back in the day 90s Brit Rock. So here we go, Pulp – Common People.

Annnnnd just because that shopping cart section reminded me of this next video, Radiohead – Fake Plastic Trees. “Now ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to slow things down a bit now this evening….”

Still one of the greatest ballads of all time, and it’s simple yet touching video is brilliant!

As a part of our previously reported story about the reunion of Soundgarden, I am going to show you this video of a song by the band ‘Temple Of The Dog’.

The group formed in 1990 after beingĀ  conceived by Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell as a tribute to his friend, the late Andrew Wood, who was the lead singer of Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone.

The line-up included Stone Gossard on rhythm guitar, Jeff Ament on bass guitar (both ex-members of Mother Love Bone), Mike McCready on lead guitar, Matt Cameron on drums and Eddie Vedder ,of Pearl Jam fame, providing lead and backing vocals.

This track was there biggest hit, and yes it is also a special treat for my girl Krista!

Holler girl!

George Michael – Too Funky

Maybe I’m biased because it was released during a very heavy clubbing ad dj’ing part of my life……but this is, in my opinion, still the coolest thing George has done in the last 17 years!

Thrush Hermit Overload

This post came about because of me hitting up Gunshy, and seeing the video for French Inhale.

Oh, and reading the news that Thrush Hermit will be reuniting for a brief time in 2010. Holy S people. I need to be at this.

For those not in the know, get some education here.

Thrush Hermit – Learn To Party Volume 1. Narrated by Joel Plaskett.

Part 1

Part 2

Oh and while we’re at it, here are volumes 2, 3, & 4. Enjoy.

Dammit I need to be at this. March. 2010. Halifax and Moncton dates. This can be done.

PS Ottawa and Toronto dates are also being discussed for you Upper Canadians.

Now, if only someone can point me in the direction of some decent Flashing Lights youtube videos, I’ll be all set tonight.

*EDIT* Ask, and ye shall receive. One awesome individual has provided us some Flashing Lights videos. Loving the Cafe Mokka shout out on Going Coastal vid, but the Apple Blossom festival nod was icing on the cake.

Christmas in Nova Scotia in four days.

OK…….I know what you are all going to say, and also that The Ro is, as always, rolling his eyes, but as a part of our special posting ‘Top 5 Albums That Helped Define Us’, I simply had to throw in some ‘Nana’s action!

One of my all time fave Bananarama tracks and it is taken from the ‘WOW’ album!

KLF, No Not KFC

Well since we mentioned it in our recent top 5 segment, and I have wanted to do a back in the day post all week – here we go.

Also on the topic of that top 5 segment, I mentioned how Shaun Ryder got someone to work with Happy Mondays in the same vein that KLF got Tammy Wynette – well that was Karl Denver. Of course I remembered the name right after. There we go. I can sleep knowing I can eventually remember things.

Where are my keys……?

Kate Bush – Babooshka

Lyrically ingenius, thought provoking, moody, heartbreaking. Pop music does NOT get better than this, nor will it probably ever be!

Lisa Stansfield – Change
