In a contest the likes of which has not been seen since Blur vs Oasis, American rock band Rage Against The Machine has held off X Factor winner (and dreamboat!) Joe McElderry for the much acclaimed UK Christmas No. 1 spot, with the re-release of their 1992 single ‘Killing In The Name’!
The whole thing was actually a Facebook campaign that was run to deliberately stop Simon Cowell and The X-Factor’s stranglehold on the Christmas charts and R.A.T.M’s track was selected as the appropriate anthem to do this!
An estimated 5 million listeners tuned in to the Top 40 chart radio show last weekend as the battle for the Christmas number one breathed new life into the Sunday afternoon chart rundown.
